Syniverse Reports Explosive Growth with Mobile Multimedia Messaging
TAMPA - As consumers become increasingly dependent on mobile devices to share life moments captured in pictures and videos, Syniverse Technologies continued its global multimedia messaging service market leadership during third quarter 2010, posting 128 percent organic growth in MMS traffic year over year. In particular, Syniverse saw explosive growth on Halloween, with MMS volumes up 150 percent organically over 2009 for that single day.
In terms of total peer-to-peer messages, which include MMS and short message service, Syniverse moved an average of 1.6 billion messages per day during third quarter 2010, with overall P2P volumes up 35 percent versus third quarter 2009. Holcombe said he expects the steady MMS growth trend to continue for both Syniverse and the industry, a vision supported by Portio Research’s forecast that worldwide MMS revenue will exceed $51 billion by the end of 2014.
