Tech Jam 2010 to Rock Tampa Bay this August

TAMPA – The TBTF Foundation, the charitable arm of the Tampa Bay Technology Forum, will hold its annual Tampa Bay Tech Jam on August 26 at the Ritz Ybor.

This year the Foundation is Rockin’ it Old School with a Battle of the Bands. Local bands interested in taking center stage and battling it out for the ultimate bragging rights, must complete and return the application by July 15.

Four bands will be selected to perform at Tech Jam. Each band will have a 20-minute set to win over the crowd and get votes. Attendees will have a certain number of “votes” to cast with an option to cast more with a one dollar donation that will go to the Foundation. Bands can also rally fans and groupies for votes prior to the event by collecting one dollar donations per vote. The band with the most votes (donations) at the end of the event will be crowned the Battle of the Bands Champion and receive studio time from Mana Recording Studios.

The Foundation is also seeking donated items for its silent auction, such as gift certificates, spa services, travel packages, entertainment packages, etc.

“Over the years, our generous supporters have helped us raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Foundation’s educational programs,” said Bob Riddell, TBTF Foundation Chair. “Once again, we turn to the TBTF members and Tampa Bay community for help. We want to make this year our biggest and most successful Tech Jam to date, so please come rock out with us and support the Foundation so we can continue to award scholarships to our youth and encourage them to have positive futures.”

A portion of the funds raised through the silent auction, ticket sales and sponsorships will benefit the Foundations’ programs including scholarships for underserved youth pursuing careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math as well as career training and computer labs at area Boys & Girls Clubs. Known as “a summer party with a purpose,” each year Tech Jam features live entertainment, cocktails, dancing, great food and excellent company to network with in a unique setting unlike a typical business event.
